Tea Time at the DCC with UIC Alum Eyzel D. Torres-Vicencio and the Heritage Garden Tea Library
Tuesday, October 29, 1- 2pm
In person in BSB 235 and on Zoom (https://go.uic.edu/DCCZoom)
Event description
Come learn about medicinal teas and how the UIC Heritage Garden makes tea!
Eyzel Torres-Vicencio will join us to tell us about Plant Power: A Guide to Managing Anxiety Using Medicinal Tea, a comic she wrote as a Masters student in Biomedical Visualization at UIC!
From the zine: "What is anxiety? Are some students more likely to experience it than others? Can plants help manage anxiety symptoms?"
We'll also be joined by the Heritage Garden with their Tea Library, who will share with us some history of the library, how they create the tea, and share some of their delicious tea!
Come sip and savor some plant wisdom! (red heart and plant emoji)
About Eyzel D. Torres-Vicencio:
Eyzel's experiences as a first-generation, queer, working-class woman of color have led her to value social justice work and its importance in higher education. These intersections culminated in Plant Power. Eyzel is based in the Chicagoland area and loves creating educational art that focuses on the environment, public health, and patient education. Her hobbies include gardening, making jewelry, and spending time with her beautiful cats. (do you want to say anything about your current career?)
